Karate Kid

Ty loves karate. It is so cute seeing him in his class working so hard. He should be testing for his brown belt soon. I took this picture of him in class the other day. I love how intense he looks.

Summer of 2010

* Summer was crazy this year. It was filled with Ty's baseball games, Youth conference, 4th year hike, and girls camp, Cub Scout camp, and book club. It was a fun summer, but I miss my pre-school kids and I am excited to start teaching again.
*Ty really had fun with baseball. His team improved so much this year. He made new friends and had a blast!
*Youth Conference was amazing. We went to Cove Fort and then Manti Pageant. Ty and I got to go along with Scott. It was a lot of fun to get to know the youth in our ward.
*My Niece Kenzie and I got to go on the 4th year hike this summer. We had a blast. We back packed it. It was beautiful at the hot springs and Kenzie and I had fun at the water falls. We didn't like the snakes that we ran into though.
*Girls camp was so much fun. I feel blessed that I got the be a leader. It stormed on us pretty hard but we stuck it out. I love all the girls. It was great to get to know them all.
*Day camp for the Cub Scouts is always fun. This year the boys got to do bb guns, bow and arrows, build a rocket and launch it, and more fun things. Tyler had a blast!
*Tyler really wanted to have a book club this summer. So we got together with our friends and planned it out. It has been a lot of fun and we have been able to read a lot of cool stories.
*So there is the condensed version of our summer.

Juggling

I am so excited. I just got a new calling last Sunday and I'm back in the Primary Presidency. I love primary. I don't think that there is anywhere else that you can feel the spirit so strongly as you teach the children gospel principles, and the music is amazing! I still get to help with girls camp. I'm really glad because I've always wanted to work with the Y.W. Camp will be a blast. I'm just having a little bit of a hard time juggling things around right now. I know it will get easier as I get my schedule down. (And work with Scott's schedule).

Easter Surprise

Scott and I were talking last week and decided it was time for us to go on a family vacation. We haven't been on one for almost 5 years. We have been putting it off because we needed to save all our extra money for adoption. We were not sure where we were going to go. We thought of a few places and then we decided to go online and look at Disney Land. Once we got online that's where I wanted to go. I love Disney Land. We decided to not tell Tyler and surprise him. On Easter morning Ty woke up and did his usual Easter things, then we had him look in his Easter basket and there was a letter for him that said he needed to get ready for the day and go to the park for the rest of his gift. He get ready and we got in the car to go to the park. When we got to the park we gave him another card that told him that he was going to Disney Land. He didn't believe it at first. He finally believed us when we started driving to Disney Land. It was so good to get away as a family and have fun. Tyler loved all the rides. His favorite was California Screaming. We had the time of our lives!

Conference

We were lucky enough to go to the Saturday Afternoon session of conference. We had four tickets so Tyler wanted to bring his cousin Kaitlyn with him. I bought them both little notebooks and pencils so they could take notes on the speakers and write down their feelings. We all loved being there. It was awesome.

Play = Sleeping Beauty

Tyler has been waiting since kindergarten to be in the 3rd grade play. It started when a neighbor of ours was in the play Little Mermaid and Tyler saw him play Sebastian. He wanted to be in a play so bad after that. The 3rd Grade school play this year was great. All of the kids did so good. The teachers are amazing. They worked so hard at writing the script and teaching all the kids their parts and songs. Tyler tried out and got the role of King Stephan (Aurora's Dad). He had a lot of fun practicing with his friends. It seems like most of his friends had lead roles with him. His best friend Azzy had the part of the Fairy Fauna. They had a great time and it was so much fun watching them. I think that we found something else that he loves to do.

Tournament

It was Tyler's karate tournament. This year he decided that he wanted to do chambara (sword fighting) and make up his own weapon kata. Tyler always does great at chambara. He took 2nd place this year. He really wanted to do a weapon kata. He hasn't used weapons much in karate. I asked the "Master" if he could try it because he really wanted to. He said yes, so Tyler came home and started to make up his moves. He decided that he wanted to put his moves to music and we used "Kung Fo Fighting" It was really good. He was the only kid who preformed a kata with a weapon. He got up and two out of the three judges game him a perfect score. He was thrilled. He took first place of coarse!

Winter Time!

Scott and I took Ty with Shane and Julie and Their kids sledding. We had so much fun. It was awesome. We went to a resort where they pull you up the hill and then you sled down it. It seems like we have not had enough snow down here to play in. We had a blast!

Out of a Zipper?

My mom invited to her ward R.S. to learn how to make flowers out of zippers. They are dang cute! I wore it today and got several compliments. While I was there I met some really cute ladies. When they asked me who my mom was and I told them. They told me that they love my mom. I told them that I did too. Then one lady told me that she loves my mom because she is always happy. A true genuine happy, not a fake happy. It's true. My mom is always happy. She is the best. I hope that I can strive to be more like her.

Tyler's Art

Tyler has an amazing teacher this year. She has made learning a lot of fun for Tyler this year. She does a lot with art which Tyler loves. Here is his his rain forest diorama that he did for class. It was so much fun. He decided that he would use clay and sculpt the animals and use construction paper for the scenery. It was amazing!

Me, 5 K?

Ok, I decided that I am going to run in the adoption 5 k in November 2010. My siblings love to run and I have never been able to see the fun in it. At Thanksgiving this year my brothers all went and ran a 5 K and had a blast. A couple weeks before that, I heard about the adoption 5 K run. (November is adoption month) So I decided I could do it also. It's only a 5 K not a whole marathon, right? So I started to make time to run. I have been going while Tyler is in karate class. The first time I went running I did better then I thought I would. Now I'm actually starting to enjoy it. Come November I will be totally ready to run!

WHAT A WEEKEND!

My weekend was pretty amazing. It started out with my nephew's Eagle Scout ceremony on Friday. He did a cool project. He gathered games, books, and movies for the youth detention center. The workers were so excited to get the material. They do not have much for the boys who are there and it was really appreciated. He is a great kid and Ty has always looked up to him. It made Tyler really excited about the things that he will be doing in the future with scouting. I had to take a picture of the two of them together. A Wolf Cub Scout and a Eagle Boy Scout.
My Niece got baptized on Saturday. It was so special and you could feel the spirit so strongly. She is such a sweet heart. The day of her baptism Tyler was upset because he broke his candy cane and She gave him hers with a note on it. It made him so happy. That's just the kind of girl that she is. I love her a ton.
Scott got a new calling at church on Sunday. He is the 1st counselor in the bishopric. He is going to do so great and I know that it will bring blessings to our family. It was so neat to see my father ordain him as a high priest. The only thing that was a little hard for him to do was to shave. I have not seen him clean shaved since we were first married. It will take us a little time to get used to it.
So like I said, What a Weekend! It was a weekend full of the spirit.

I love Thanksgiving!

I know that this might not hear this to often, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's so nice to be able to spend time with family and talk the day away, while you can hear the kids laughing and playing in the next room. The food is always so fun to eat. I love to eat every ones dishes. This year my soon to be sister in law made buttermilk pie. It was her grandmother's recipe. It was sooo good.
Scott and I have the best families. Every year they make sure that they have Thanksgiving at two different times so we can go to both! Ya, TWO THANKSGIVINGS! What could be better then that!

Adoption Meetings

Sometimes we get to go to fun adoption meetings. They try to have a few that the whole family can go to. This one that we went to was at Boondocks. We had so much fun. First we got to look at children who are legally free for adoption through the adoption exchange. It was good to hear about some other options that we have. Then we got to go and play at Boondocks. It was a fun day. It was so nice to meet families that have adopted children and see how happy they all are. Tyler had so much fun their. We played games and he hit the jack pot on a game and won over 400 tickets. I was laughing because it reminds me of a "Vegas" for kids. Then after he picked out his prizes, (a stuffed dog, a pellet gun, and a ring for his cousin Kaitlyn) they took his picture to put up on the wall and gave him a free t-shirt. He was on top of the world. Then we got to play Lazer tag. Something that Scott and I love to do. Our team won! It was a great way to spend a Saturday.

I love Fall!

This fall has been the best! It actually has lasted for a while this year. The colors have been amazing. I love that Tyler loves to play in the leaves with his cousins. They worked so hard raking up the leaves and then the piles are destroyed in seconds. You got to miss being a kid! What a blast!

Look What I Won!

It was our anniversary. I can't believe that it has been 16 years. We wanted to get away, but it had to be just for a night because we had an adoption home study the following day. So I got us an awesome room for the night. It had a huge jetted tub in the room, a sauna, a huge plasma T.V. It was so nice to get away for the night. Scott got me a massage at the spa in the morning.
OK we really didn't win the Corvette. It's Scott's dad's new toy. When we told him that we were leaving for the night he said, "Come and take the Vet!" Scott was really hesitant at first and said he would talk to me about it. Of coarse I told him that I wanted to take the Vet. It was so fun to drive in. You don't even use a key to start it. You just push a button. It's the cutest car that I have ever been in. It gets going fast. It was actually my favorite part of the trip, except for being alone with Scott. When we had to take it back to his dad I felt a little sad. I didn't realize how much you could love a car.

NY Yankees

You could say that Scott is the biggest Yankee fan ever. He loves to watch all of the games. This year he was so excited. He just knew that they were going to win the world series. (#27) So on the big game night he let Tyler stay up to watch the game. It was a school night but it would be Tyler's first time to see the Yankees win the world series.
The next morning Scott made Tyler breakfast before school. And of coarse he made him N. Y. pancakes.
